Roles and Responsibilities

General Officer

What you are:

  • Responsible: As an officer, you are part of the decision making body of the FC.
  • Dedicated: The FC is like your baby; you have a personal stake in the state of the FC.
  • Receptive: You listen for feedback from all parties, regardless of rank.
  • Self-motivated: You don’t wait for explicit orders to start a project. If it helps the FC, you just do it.
  • Active: You play the game at least part-time. You’re able to attend at least 50% of all non-progression FC events per month.

What you do:

  • Represent the FC as a mature and well-composed player.
  • Identify and address FC issues early and discuss solutions with FC leadership.
  • Organize and execute projects/FC events with fellow Officers.
  • Attend the bi-monthly FC Leadership meetings (review dates/agenda on leadership calendar).
  • Provide assistance to newer players of the FC

 

Progression Leader

What you are:

  • Capable: You know how to play your DoW/DoM role, and maybe even a few others.
  • Knowledgeable: You do your research, you look up the fights. You never go into an encounter blind.
  • Decisive: You can make an executive decision at a moment’s notice. You’re not afraid making tough calls for the sake of the raid team.
  • Critical: You’re good at troubleshooting the fight down to the smallest details. When someone asks “What Happened”, you’ll have an answer and plan ready for it.
  • Active: You plan and launch progression team runs at least on a weekly basis.
  • One-of-Us: Even as a Progression Officer, you are still subject to all the requirements of general FC Officer. It’s a bit of a responsibility.

What you do:

  • Organize and schedule raids for the progression team.
  • Search and evaluate talent for progression team membership.
  • Provide professional feedback to raid members to resolve issues in encounters.
  • Build and maintain an organized roster of progression team members (Google Docs is your friend).

 

Community Manager

What you are:

  • Creative: Final Fantasy XIV is your playground, and you know many ways to enjoy the game.
  • Receptive: You’re open to constructive criticism. If your plans aren’t going well, you look for feedback to improve them.
  • Timely: You avoid planning things last minute. You give others the time they need to do their jobs.
  • Active: You’re in constant communication with other members of leadership (through discord or anything else) to ensure that everyone is in the loop.

What you do:

  • Brainstorm and plan monthly FC events, as well as keeping FC members notified of events ahead of time (3 weeks preferably).
  • Develop and structure incentive for FC activity (rewards for active play).
  • Spread awareness of SURGE through Social Media outlets, such as our Website, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.

 

Recruiter

What you are:

  • Social: You enjoy talking to other players about FFXIV, and about the plans your FC is doing!
  • Goal-oriented: When you set your sights on something, you do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Passionate: You love what you and are not afraid to let that reflect in your work.
  • Active: You’re in constant communication with other members of leadership (through discord or anything else) to ensure that everyone is in the loop.

What you do:

  • Advertise and source talent into the FC.
  • Interview potential recruits to ensure new FC members share SURGE values.
  • Identify the needs/goals of incoming recruits for FFXIV and relay them to leadership.
  • Onboard and orient new players to FC goals and culture.

 

Trainer

What you are:

  • Helpful: You assist other players in navigating the labyrinth that is FFXIV MSQ.
  • Patient: Some players take longer than others to get things done, but you’re okay with that.
  • Constructive: The advice you give is salt-free. You want to see players grow.
  • Active: You’re in constant communication with other members of leadership (through discord or anything else) to ensure that everyone is in the loop.

What you do:

  • Guide new players (leafers) through FFXIV to ensure they know how to get to the endgame.
  • Organize roulette parties with leafers to get through MSQ dungeons and clear their daily roulettes.
  • Teach leafers basic mechanics for Tanking/DPS/Healing (Mentor badge recommended).

 

Crafting/Gathering Tzar

What you are:

  • Focused: Material farming isn’t a grind, it’s a way of life.
  • Organized: You hate clutter. You keep a neat workspace. You know what you have and what you need.
  • Constructive: The advice you give is salt-free. You want to see players grow (as DoH/DoL that is).
  • Active: You’re in constant communication with other members of leadership (through discord or anything else) to ensure that everyone is in the loop.

What you do:

  • Organize and direct DoH/DoL players to effectively complete FC projects in a timely manner.
  • Track and maintain stock of FC crafting material.
  • Provide the FC with craftable goods for various activities (Food, Potions, etc)
